Angola and Serbia Strengthen Cooperation in Civil Protection

Belgrade: A delegation from the Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB) paid a working visit to Serbia from the 8th to the 10th of this month, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and emergency management.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the mission was part of the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement on Security and Public Order between the Ministries of the Interior of Angola and Serbia, signed in 2022.

The delegation was led by the commander of the Civil Protection and Fire Service, Chief Fire Commissioner Bravo Pereira Mendes, and included officials from the Ministry of the Interior's Exchange and Cooperation Office. During the visit, the delegation was received by Angola's ambassador to Serbia, Eduardo Filomeno Oct¡vio, who highlighted the importance of deepening cooperative relations between the two countries.

The delegation also met with the Assistant Minister of the Interior of Serbia and Head of the Emergency Situations Sector, Luka Causic, who reaffirmed the interest in strengthening cooperation between the counterpart institutions. As part of the visit, the Angolan officials learned about the operations of the Serbian emergency management structure and conducted technical visits to the Main Fire Station, the territorial units in New Belgrade and the Waterfront area, and the Main Emergency Situations Station in the city of Ni‚¬Å¡¬¦¡.

The mission also visited the sector's training grounds, where they observed personnel training exercises, as well as the central command posts of the Ministry of the Interior and Serbia's Emergency Situations Sector. The agenda also included a visit to the "Mihailo Pupin" Institute, affiliated with the University of Belgrade, to explore technological solutions-specifically the production system for electronic bracelets used by Serbian prison services. According to the press release, the visit made it possible to identify opportunities for cooperation in the areas of personnel training, the exchange of experiences, and the strengthening of the technical capabilities of Angolan civil protection and firefighting institutions.
