Angola and Mozambique to Face Off in AFCON 2025 Preparation Match

Algarve: Angola and Mozambique are set to face each other on Wednesday at 3 pm in Algarve, Portugal, as part of their preparation for the African Cup of Nations ‘AFCON 2025-26’, which will commence on the 21st of this month and conclude on January 18, 2026, in Morocco.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the match was initially scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed by a day due to operational issues. All 28 athletes of the Angolan national team are currently in training camp. Angola’s preparation for the AFCON is limited to this single game against Mozambique, as a second friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo was canceled due to scheduling conflicts.

In the upcoming continental tournament, Angola finds itself in Group B alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Mozambique will compete in Group F against C´te d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and Gabon in the initial phase.

The Angolan team is scheduled to depart for Rabat on Thursday and will proceed to their group’s stage in the city of Marrakech. Angola’s debut in the 35th Edition of the African Cup of Nations is slated for the 22nd of this month against South Africa, with the match starting at 5 pm.
