Angola and Kyrgyzstan Forge New Path with Memo on Political Consultations.

BAKU: Angola and Kyrgyzstan have taken a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations by signing a memorandum of understanding on political consultations in Baku, Azerbaijan. The agreement, finalized on the sidelines of the COP29 summit, aims to identify and explore new sectors of cooperation between these two nations. The signing was witnessed by the Vice-President of Angola, Esperança da Costa, and carried out by Angola’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, and Kyrgyzstan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Zheenbek Kulubaev.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the memorandum outlines plans for consultations that may include discussions on expanding political, economic, cultural, technological, and consular cooperation, among other areas. The agreement reflects a mutual interest in deepening ties and exploring new avenues for partnership between Angola and Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the Kyrgyz diplomat expressed a strong interest in fostering cooperation with Angola a
cross various sectors. The discussions with the Vice-President of Angola focused on analyzing bilateral relations and enhancing the existing friendship between the two countries. The diplomat highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s strategic interest in activating relations with African nations, with Angola being a key partner in this endeavor.

The Kyrgyz diplomat emphasized the importance of political dialogue, trade, and tourism in strengthening the bilateral ties. Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian country and former member of the Soviet Union, shares borders with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China. With a population of just over seven million, its capital is Bishkek. This new agreement marks a pivotal moment in Kyrgyzstan’s efforts to engage more actively with countries on the African continent, particularly Angola.
