OUAGADOUGOU — This Friday, significant developments in Burkina Faso’s cultural and security sectors captured public attention. Amzy, a celebrated national artist, clinched the Golden Kundé at the 2024 awards ceremony, a prestigious event in Burkinabè music. Concurrently, the government announced the recruitment of new personnel for the National Police.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Kundé awards ceremony was a vibrant celebration featuring both Burkinabè and international artists. Amzy, succeeding last year’s winner Smarty, expressed his long-awaited victory and anticipation for future success, as reported by the Observer Paalga. The atmosphere at the event was described as one of joy and satisfaction, not only for Amzy but also for the general commissioner of the Kundé.

In parallel to the cultural festivities, Sidwaya reported on significant developments in national security. The Ministry of Security has been authorized to recruit 2,000 new non-commissioned officers for the National Police. This initiative is part of a broader five-year plan spanning from 2023 to 2027, aimed at bolstering the country’s security forces.

The detailed plan includes the recruitment of 20 police commissioners and 50 officers through professional competitions, as highlighted by the delegate minister in charge of security, Mahamadou Sana. Additionally, Sidwaya noted that specific recruitment quotas are allocated to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), the Deputy Security Volunteers (VADS), and spouses of fallen members of the defense and security forces.
