Ouahigouya—As part of the “Community Recovery and Stability Project for the Sahel,” the Rural World Association (AMR) organized a capacity-building session on May 16-18, 2024, for around 60 men and women from four municipalities in the Northern region. The session aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of host populations and internally displaced persons (IDPs) on social cohesion, solidarity, and development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the training, supported by the Community Recovery and Stability Project for the Sahel (PCRSS), focused on social cohesion and development. Félix Ilboudo, vice-president of the AMR Board of Directors, urged participants to engage actively in the discussions. Augustin Ilboudo, president of the Barga Special Delegation, emphasized the importance of women’s participation.

Over three days, participants engaged in modules developed by experts Félix Ilboudo and Toussaint Samba, learning about tolerance, solidarity, and the relationship between development, social cohesion, and peace. The training concluded with participants committing to act as peace ambassadors by adopting a “Charter of Living Together” to facilitate community life and promote development.
