Riyadh: Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mohammed Barrie, alongside his delegation, visited the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) headquarters in Riyadh for a working engagement.
According to Sierra Leone News Agency, Ambassador Barrie engaged in discussions with IMCTC Secretary-General, Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, focusing on enhancing cooperation between Sierra Leone and the coalition. The Ambassador conveyed greetings from President Brigadier (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Maada Bio and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to the coalition.
The discussions emphasized the strategic partnerships fostered by IMCTC among member states. Ambassador Barrie highlighted President Bio’s dedication through the appointment of Brigadier General Samuel Bob Farma as Sierra Leone’s Head of Delegation (HOD) to the IMCTC, describing him as an exemplary military officer.
Major General Al-Moghedi outlined IMCTC’s objectives, noting the coalition’s 43 member sta
tes, including Sierra Leone, and its efforts to unify Muslim countries against terrorism. He mentioned 46 training programs funded by Saudi Arabia, which target Intellectual, Media, Counter-terrorism financing (CTF), and Military areas.
Key outcomes of the discussions include Ambassador Barrie and Brigadier Farma leading a 20-man delegation to Sierra Leone for strategic engagement with the Ministry of Defence in January 2026. The IMCTC also agreed to train Imams and preachers in Sierra Leone on capacity-building topics to foster peace, along with training in finance, intelligence, and anti-money laundering for Sierra Leone’s government sector.
The Secretary-General praised Sierra Leone’s representation and the newly appointed HOD. A documentary showcasing IMCTC’s activities was presented, followed by a tour of the IMCTC Situation Room, where operational hubs for monitoring terrorist activities were demonstrated.
