Alumni of Saint Augustin Seminary Plant Over a Hundred Trees in Baskouré

Kourittenga — The grounds of the Saint Augustin minor seminary in Baskouré witnessed the planting of over a hundred trees on Saturday, led by the Association of Former Seminarians of Baskouré (AASB). The event saw the alumni plant approximately sixty mango trees and forty tangelo trees.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the association, the initiative aims to enhance the natural beauty of their former seminary and foster solidarity and cohesion among alumni from different years. "This event, called the day of the former seminarians of Baskouré, allows those who have studied here to return and contribute positively to the future of this house," Dawendé explained.

Abbot Roland Sandwidi, the director of the Saint Augustin minor seminary, praised the initiative as a significant gesture of remembrance and renewal. "This is the first time that we have met here to plant trees to restore the seminary's former greenery, and we are delighted," said Sandwidi. He expressed deep gratitude to the alumni for organizing and participating in the tree planting.

Placide Nadembèga, representing the sponsors, echoed the sentiments of unity and commitment. He highlighted the enthusiasm and mobilization around the event, urging more former seminarians to engage with the alumni association's activities.

The event also included educational components, with two conferences aimed at enriching the participants' understanding and collaboration. Jacques Kaboré discussed 'Solidarity and Networking between Members of the Association,' while Dr. Tegawendé F. Bisyandé presented on the 'Notion of Artificial Intelligence to Remain an Informed Believer.'

Jonas Guiatin from the association’s office expressed hope that such activities would continue, fostering ongoing solidarity among alumni. "It is truly a source of pride to see alumni of different generations and professional backgrounds come together for such a noble cause," Guiatin added.
