Kombissiri: Alumni of the Kombissiri Provincial High School celebrated the 40th anniversary of their institution on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Several activities marked this event, which was held under the theme: 'The School Council: A Historic Turning Point for the Refounding of the Burkinabe Education System.'
According to Burkina Information Agency, the town of Kombissiri was abuzz with a festive atmosphere as alumni turned out in force to celebrate the school's milestone anniversary. The event brought together current and former students, numerous guests, school staff, and provincial administrators, and was held under the patronage of the Minister of Secondary Education, represented by the High Commissioner of Bazega Province, Tene Justine Kientega/Ilboudo.
Historical insights were provided by alumni representative Tassere Compaore, who recounted that the Kombissiri Provincial High School, formerly known as the Kombissiri CEG (General Education College), began its journey in October 1984 in a borrowed building in Pindega, Sector 5 of Kombissiri. Mr. Compaore emphasized the importance of the anniversary as a platform to honor the school's history and express gratitude to former teachers. The occasion also allowed alumni to commend the school staff's efforts and encourage current students.
The celebration featured the cutting of a birthday cake, presentation of gifts to former teachers, and distribution of computer equipment and school bags to school administrators. Attendees also toured newly constructed facilities and participated in a tree-planting initiative. The High Commissioner of Bazega praised the commitment of those who have contributed to the school's success over the past four decades and encouraged the community to view the anniversary as the beginning of a new era in education, centered on solidarity and community engagement.
The headmaster, Dimanchi Gordio, lauded the efforts of the Alumni Association, which played a crucial role in the commemoration's success. Their contributions included the renovation of the administrative building, improvements to classrooms, and the rehabilitation of part of the staff parking area. He also highlighted the significant needs of the high school, urging further support.
The anniversary celebration also included a public conference on the School Council, addressing one of the education system reforms in Burkina Faso.
