Ouagadougou: Former students of the Wangala Public Primary School (EPP) organized a day to promote excellence and mark the end of the school year on Saturday, July 18, 2026. On this occasion, 12 bicycles and more than 20 school supply kits were awarded to the top students to reward their academic achievements.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the theme "Excellence and patriotic commitment: building leaders for a sovereign future." It mobilized customary, administrative, and educational authorities, former teachers, former students, parents of students, and village populations around the promotion of academic merit.

In his welcoming remarks, Chief Kiir Zanr© of Wangala commended the large turnout of guests and congratulated the alumni for this initiative, which he said contributes to the prestige of their school. He urged the students to cultivate respect, discipline, and a strong work ethic to become exemplary citizens serving their community and Burkina Faso.

Four former principals of the school participated in the ceremony. They expressed satisfaction at seeing alumni return to support the school that had educated them. They reminded everyone that education is a legacy passed down from generation to generation, encouraging students to persevere in their studies to honor the sacrifices made by their parents and teachers.

On behalf of the current school principals, Sylvestre Pograwa expressed the entire educational community's gratitude to the alumni. He emphasized that their presence and commitment demonstrate their deep connection to their school. He stated that their initiative exemplifies recognition and solidarity with the younger generations, conveying a message of hope to the students.

The alumni representative, Josu© Mar©, stated that this day stemmed from the former students' desire to give back to their school some of what it had given them. He affirmed that the group intends to continue this initiative to promote excellence, strengthen ties between different generations of students, and support the school's development efforts.

Representing the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the Zabr© municipality, Jacques Gouba, first vice-president of the special delegation, congratulated the organizers of this day dedicated to academic excellence. He stated that investment in education is a key driver for the development of the municipality and the country, encouraging students to continue their efforts and partners to maintain their support for schools.

The ceremony was punctuated by artistic performances, awareness messages, and the presentation of awards to the most deserving students and several actors in the educational world, in an atmosphere full of conviviality and recognition.

As a reminder, the Wangala Public Primary School opened its doors in 1987. It now has two establishments, EPP Wangala A and EPP Wangala B. During the 2026 session of the Primary School Certificate (CEP), the two CM2 classes, all led by female teachers, recorded a success rate of 100%, illustrating the quality of the work carried out by the teaching teams and the commitment of the students.
