OUAGADOUGOU - The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) has endorsed a new strategy to implement an emergency communication plan to keep the populations informed about significant actions taken by their governments. The roadmap was adopted during a videoconference on Tuesday, which included Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, Burkina Faso’s Minister in charge of Communication, and his counterparts from Mali and Niger.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ministers discussed the specifics of a communication strategy that is due for development next week in Bamako, Mali. This plan is critical for informing the citizens of the major actions undertaken by the authorities in the Sahel region. It follows a summit held on July 6, 2024, in Niamey, where the heads of state from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger signed a treaty creating the confederation of the Sahel States and emphasized the importance of developing a communications strategy that reflects the values of the Sahel peoples.
