The Association of Sports Journalists of Burkina (AJSB) organized a pre-match press conference in Ouagadougou on Wednesday for the final of its 30th Super Cup, where EFO and AS Customs explained themselves before the face to face meeting on August 6 in Bobo-Dioulasso, we noted.
EFO, winner of the Faso Cup this year, wants to achieve a double by winning this 30th AJSB Super Cup, while AS Douanes, champion of Burkina, dreams of retaining its title acquired last year. The coaches and captains of the two teams spoke and all revealed their ambitions at this press conference.
AS Douanes assistant coach Antoine Ilboudo, who still hasn’t come to terms with last season’s double defeat against EFO (championship and ½ final of the Faso Cup) mentions that “we have worked to ensure that no longer repeats itself. We are competitors and we are going to win the trophy”.
For EFO coach Cheick Hamidou Ouattara, very confident of his men, “in this match, we are not going to test our players but to seek the cup” and the dice are now cast. His team recorded three departures but did not renew its workforce much.
On the other hand, the Gabelous have moved the lines on the recruitment side. They brought in a Ghanaian (Richard), a Malian (Samba Diallo), a Nigerian (Gabriel), and the top scorer in the national championship, the Ivorian Salif Bagaté, without forgetting that at the local level there have been new recruits.
EFO has 7 AJSB Super Cup trophies while AS Douanes has one. This 30th edition of the AJSB Super Cup will be played on Sunday August 6 at the Wobi stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso at 3:30 pm
