Johannesburg – In response to the increasing demand for travel between Johannesburg and Windhoek, Air Connect Namibia, in partnership with South African Airways, will introduce a third daily flight starting 27 October 2024. This addition aims to enhance travel flexibility and options for passengers in both cities.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the newly announced service will utilize South African Airways' A320 fleet. Bisey / Uirab, Chairperson and CEO of the Namibia Airports Company, emphasized the significance of this expansion in a statement released on Tuesday. “The new flight route reflects the growing demand for connectivity between the well-established Johannesburg and Windhoek routes, thereby supporting tourism, business collaborations, and cultural exchange,” he said.
Uirab also noted that Johannesburg ranks as the top foreign destination for travelers from Windhoek based on passenger traffic, underscoring the strategic importance of increasing flight capacity to meet market needs. “The service is a positive step forward for the destination as we continue to pursue increased international connectivity and ease of air access,” he added. The additional flights are expected to not only cater to the convenience of travelers but also to boost economic ties and support the aviation sector's growth in Namibia.
