AICC Unveils Angola Convention Bureau to Propel Event Tourism

Luanda: The executive director of the International Association of Congresses and Conventions (AICC), Senthil Gopinath, announced the launch of a convention bureau in Angola, marking a historic milestone for the country's tourism industry. This development signifies Angola's readiness to host major international events, as highlighted in Gopinath's address following an audience with President Joo Louren§o.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the creation of the Angola Convention Bureau is a strategic move to position the country on the global circuit of congresses and conventions. Senthil Gopinath emphasized that this initiative will serve as a crucial instrument for the growth of event tourism in Angola, facilitating more meetings and conferences within the nation.

Gopinath outlined a strategy that involves collaboration with international partners to globally promote Angola's potential as a premier destination for professional gatherings. As part of the national strategy, the development of tourism is seen as integral, with Angola already possessing the necessary conditions to establish itself in this sector. He stressed the importance of communicating to the international community that Angola is prepared to host significant events.

The executive director also noted that the presence of infrastructure, such as convention centers and hotels, underscores Angola's capability to accommodate regional and international events, thereby contributing to the expansion of its tourism sector. He suggested that the head of Angola's Tourism portfolio could act as an 'ambassador' in promoting the country internationally.

Senthil Gopinath reiterated his commitment to publicizing Angola's readiness for large gatherings, inviting organizations and promoters to consider the country as a prime venue for congresses and conventions. He conveyed a clear message to the global community: Angola is equipped and ready to host substantial meetings and events.

The launch of the Angola Convention Bureau was officially conducted at the Talatona Convention Center in Luanda, following the approval of Presidential Decree 23/26. This decree, dated January 27, outlines measures for advancing event tourism in the country.
