Nairobi: The newly appointed Principal Secretary for the State Department for National Government Coordination Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, has pledged to ensure that all government-funded projects within his department significantly impact the lives of Kenyans.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mr. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of proper coordination and networking, both during the planning process and implementation period, to enhance sustainability and reduce inefficiency. “I will ensure that it is not only coordination, but also that the projects are well coordinated,” he stated.
While speaking on Thursday at the Railways Building in Nairobi as he officially assumed office, Mr. Ibrahim was accompanied by the Garsen Member of Parliament, Ali Wario. He was received by the Principal Administrative Secretary Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Juliana Yiapan, and Secretary Administration Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Tom Anjere.
Ibrahim also highlighted the need for fair distribution of resources across the country and the implementation of proper security measures to prevent vandalism of projects. He pointed out that negligence by officers implementing projects often leads to delays, causing some projects to stagnate due to accumulated costs, an issue he believes requires critical attention.
He stressed the importance of regular monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects by officers, as this would help address bottlenecks in various departments involved in service delivery projects. Ibrahim acknowledged the significant task ahead but expressed confidence that with resilient and capable staff, the state department would achieve its targets.
The State Department for National Government Coordination Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary is a newly created entity, signaling a fresh approach to governmental project management and coordination.
