Nahouri: The agro-pastoral offensive and food sovereignty are on the agenda for discussions. The High Commissioner of the Nahouri Province, Sie Aristide Mohamed Kam, chaired the first session of the year of the Nahouri Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Po. Discussions focused on the agro-pastoral initiative and food sovereignty, as well as the challenges and prospects for the Nahouri Province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner of the province of Nahouri and President of the CCP, Sie Aristide Mohamed Kam, emphasized the importance of consultation frameworks as spaces for exchanging experiences among decentralized rural development actors to harmonize daily actions. During this first session, members deliberated on the agro-pastoral offensive and food sovereignty, following a presentation by Aicha Sanou/Zidwemba, the provincial director in charge of Agriculture of Nahouri.
The presentation indicated that the agro-pastoral campaign is progressing well, with satisfactory results. Initiatives supporting producers and Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) to achieve food self-sufficiency have been successful despite minor difficulties. The province sees major opportunities to drive an ambitious offensive.
The session featured two notable presentations. Arnaud Bado, the site administrator, discussed the information and early warning system for climate information, presented by the Gamowignan association. The second presentation, by Adeline Dorothee Kando, WAKANDA project manager, focused on a participatory management project for sustainable development on the periphery of protected areas of the PONASi landscape.
This project aims to enhance village organization, develop income-generating activities, and improve social cohesion, environmental preservation, and resilience to climate change, implemented by Nitidae in consortium with Naturama and CERDE. The session allowed heads of decentralized technical services to showcase their 2025 activities, which were largely successful.
The High Commissioner praised the quality of discussions and expressed hope that decisions from this session will effectively improve living conditions in the province. The session was supported technically and financially by the WAKANDA/Nitidae project.
