Gobabis: Three officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform were granted bail recently in the Gobabis Magistrate's Court following their arrest by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Namibia Press Agency, Lion Katjimuine, Festus Tjaondjo, and Albert Mbingana - all from the Directorate of Rural Water Supply - were each granted bail of N.dollars 10,000. They face charges of corrupt practices involving the fraudulent requisition and distribution of community water tanks.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ACC revealed that its investigation uncovered fraudulent requests submitted to the Omaheke Regional Government Stores. These requests, made under false pretenses, were for two 10,000-litre water tanks originally intended for the villages of Orunarongue and Otjijarua in the Otjinene and Epukiro constituencies.
Investigators established that while the tanks were removed from the stores in November 2025, they never reached the intended communities. Instead, they were allegedly diverted for the personal benefit of the officials or other private individuals.
The ACC confirmed that the tanks have since been seized and are being returned to the Omaheke Regional Government Stores.
The matter has been postponed to 25 March 2026. The ACC reaffirmed its commitment to combating corruption and ensuring that public resources intended for community development are protected and properly utilised.
