Windhoek: The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has announced an extension to the submission deadline for livestock support programme subsidy claims. Farmers now have until 30 April 2025 to submit their outstanding claims, extending from the initial deadline of 30 March 2025.

According to Namibia Press Agency, a statement released on Monday by the Directorate of Agriculture Production, Extension and Engineering Services urged farmers to submit all outstanding claims for the period from 01 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 at their nearest Agricultural Extension Office. The subsidy programme encompasses various interventions, including livestock marketing incentives and subsidies for the transportation of livestock to and from grazing areas. Additionally, subsidies for the lease of grazing, lick, and fodder are included in the claims to be submitted.

The ministry has also instructed extension officials to provide support to farmers so claims can be processed without delay. “Only claims with all necess

The subsidy programme targets livestock producers raising cattle, goats, and sheep. Eligible farmers will receive N.dollars 750 per large stock unit (cattle) for a maximum of 75 cattle. For small stock units (goats and sheep), the subsidy is N.dollars 150 per head, with a maximum of 375 goats and sheep, or a combination of both.
