Agrarian Fund Invests 38 Billion Kwanzas to Boost Family Farming in Angola

Cuito: Angola's Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) has made a significant investment of 38 billion kwanzas from 2024 to April this year, aiming to enhance family farming across the nation through the procurement of agricultural mechanization equipment. This was revealed by Felisbela Francisco, the president of FADA's Board of Directors, during a review of the institution's activities in the city of Cuito, Bi© province.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the funds were allocated towards acquiring tractors, microtractors, and tillers, which are set to benefit 4,178 projects. This initiative is part of a broader program designed to accelerate family farming and bolster food security within the country.

Felisbela Francisco elaborated that the program features several initiatives, with one focused on the light mechanization of family farming. This involves facilitating farmers' and producers' access to agricultural equipment.

Additionally, she disclosed that 631 young individuals have been trained in the operation, maintenance, and repair of small agricultural equipment. Looking ahead, FADA plans to support over 3,000 new agricultural projects by 2028, with an investment portfolio exceeding 10 billion kwanzas.

Farmers benefiting from this initiative are afforded a five-year timeframe to make payments either in cash or through product delivery, Felisbela Francisco noted.

The financial credit for the acquisition of agricultural equipment varies, with the maximum limit for tractors and microtractors being 50 million kwanzas, while for power tillers it is 10 million kwanzas, he clarified.
