Brasília: The chairman of the Afro-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (AfroChamber), Rui Mucaje, has expressed interest in improving economic and diplomatic relations with Angola and attracting investment from the South American country. Mucaje made the statement to the Angolan press in Brasília regarding the three-day state visit to Brazil by Angolan President Joo Lourenço, which Mucaje considered strategic.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Mucaje urged Angola to collaborate more with other African partners to maintain progress in its relationship with AfroChamber. The association is dedicated to promoting Brazil’s economic, trade, investment, and technological exchanges with African countries. He said that Brazilian businesspeople know Angola as a very interesting destination and that, last December, a local business mission visited the country to explore the market.

“Brazil is open to Africa, just as Africa has been open to Brazil for a long time,” he emphasized. He added that AfroChamber has around thr
ee thousand members.

Members of the Angolan community living in Brasília considered the visit by President Joo Lourenço to Brazil to be fruitful. It could influence the improvement of relations between the two countries at the institutional level and open up prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation. In brief statements to the press, students Petra Pericheiro and Izamba Capalo; agronomist Hernani de Sousa; and Sebastio Mendes, a business administration graduate; all of whom have lived in Brazil for more than five years, agreed on the visit’s general benefits for the community in the capital and in other states.

Mendes, a business administration graduate, supports the visit and wishes the country growth.
