Afro-Descendants Reconnect with Sankara’s Legacy at Ouagadougou Mausoleum

Ouagadougou: Afro-descendants immerse themselves in Sankara’s legacy at the Thomas Sankara mausoleum. Afro-descendants visited the Thomas Sankara mausoleum in Ouagadougou on Monday to celebrate the revolutionary and pan-African legacy of the father of the Burkinabe Revolution.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this visit was organized by the African Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI) and is part of a two-week stay in the land of upright people. It aims to rediscover the values of integrity, dignity, and sovereignty advocated by Captain Thomas Sankara, values that visitors believe have been revived by the popular and progressive revolution led by Captain Ibrahim Traore.

Dr. Robert T. Jackson, a professor at the University of Maryland, expressed his pleasure in visiting the iconic site. He remarked, “Thomas Sankara was a revolutionary. His vision finds a definite echo today in the current dynamic of building a free and strong Africa.”

Dr. Ade Tima, a resident of Europe, shared his emotional respons
e after the visit. He noted, “This mausoleum encourages everyone to reflect on their mission for Africa. The patriotic actions undertaken today in Burkina Faso reaffirm Sankara’s ideal, still alive in the hearts of his people.”

The members of ADDI commended the exemplary nature of the Burkinabe people in their pursuit of sovereignty and unity. They also expressed their commitment to supporting Burkina Faso in its transformation process.

During their stay, several activities are planned, including discussions with authorities, visits to historical sites, and meetings with key players in the ongoing revolution.
