Ouagadougou: The 'Afrikikre' Association launched a solidarity flea market on Monday, scheduled from November 24 to 30, 2025, at the Place de la Revolution in Ouagadougou to support vulnerable people and encourage the wave of solidarity advocated by the authorities. According to Burkina Information Agency, the solidarity flea market, named "Gnongon Dèmè," offers a variety of items sold at social prices, ranging from 500 to 2,000 CFA francs. These include clothing, children's toys, and shoes, sold at affordable prices to provide relief to people in need, stated the association's promoter, Marguerite Douanio/Sou. The association's objective is to enable all families, even those with limited purchasing power, to equip themselves at a lower cost, in accordance with the solidarity dynamic promoted by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, it stressed. Marguerite Douanio explained that the event also includes a fundraising component for internally displaced or resettled people. "Many return home after sev eral years with nothing. We must help them rebuild their lives," she emphasized. Mariama Sylviane Zongo, the project manager at the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, welcomed an initiative that fits with the solidarity dynamic launched by the Burkinabe authorities. According to her, November is now recognized as the month of solidarity, and this flea market reminds people in distress that they are not alone. "We remain by their side day and night, and we share their sorrows through various social actions," she said. The 'Afrikikre' Association invites the public to come in large numbers from November 24 to 30 to participate in this week of active solidarity, where every purchase or donation will contribute to supporting a vulnerable family. Placed under the theme "Endogenous solutions for a more resilient Burkina Faso," the solidarity flea market also offers a shopping street and provides the opportunity to enjoy local dishes.
