Afridia Industries Supports Blood Donation with Refreshments and Corporate Engagement in Bobo-Dioulasso

BOBO-DIOULASSO — Afridia Industries, a prominent Burkinabe producer of non-alcoholic beverages, hosted a major blood donation event at their headquarters on August 30, 2024, collecting over fifty bags of blood for the Regional Blood Transfusion Center (CRTS) of Bobo-Dioulasso and providing refreshments to support the donors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the staff at Afridia Industries demonstrated significant commitment by participating in the blood donation, which was organized in cooperation with the local CRTS team. The initiative aligns with the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy, focusing on contributing positively to the community’s health and well-being.

Ashmed Nana, the head of the quality assurance department at the Bobo-Dioulasso Regional Blood Transfusion Center, praised Afridia Industries for their efforts and encouraged other organizations to participate in similar activities, especially during the rainy season when the demand for blood surges due to high malaria prevalence. “This kind of initiative is vital for saving lives, particularly those of women and children who are often in critical need of blood,” he noted.

Jonas Bayoulou, the General Manager of Afridia Industries, emphasized that the blood donation event is part of a broader range of activities planned under the company’s social responsibility policy. He highlighted the importance of the event, stating, “This activity supports those in need of blood to continue their lives and encourages our staff to engage actively in community life.”

In addition to the blood donations, Afridia Industries also distributed 1,000 boxes of Malia juice to aid the CRTS in their ongoing blood collection efforts. This gesture is part of the company’s continuous support to blood transfusion centers, which started in July, with contributions totaling over 5 million FCFA. The aim is to facilitate the collection of 6,050 bags of blood across Burkina Faso for the year 2024.

Bayoulou commended his staff for their dedication and urged them to maintain their commitment to such community-supportive actions, reinforcing the message that collective efforts are essential for societal well-being.
