Luanda: Mobile phone operator Africell launched on Wednesday the web version of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) system called AfriGPT, which enables it to perform complex tasks with devices connected to the internet.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the tool, supported by AI platforms, replaces the previous version of USSD (Unstructured Supplemental Service Data), which allowed sending texts and interacting with menus in real-time from analog cell phones, but without the use of the internet or mobile data.

Speaking to ANGOP, Africell's communications director, Sued de Oliveira, explained that the launch of AfriGPT aims to democratize the service and support students in their research at a price of 300 kwanzas/month. He stated that the company currently has seven million customers in the provinces of Luanda, Cuanza-Sul, Benguela, Huila, and Huambo, while expansion to other provinces is planned in the near future to bring connectivity to more people and promote digital inclusion.

Taking place until July 26, the event is held under the motto "Produce and Innovate Locally, Win Globally" and features the participation of 2,348 national and international exhibitors.
