Sonangol: Sonangol Trading and Shipping, a business unit of the state-owned oil company, reported that an "isolated incident" consisting of an explosion on the deck of the Bahamian-floil tanker Sonangol Namibe occurred in Iraq on Thursday.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the vessel was anchored in the Khor Al-Zubair area, awaiting loading operations, when the explosion occurred.

Sonangol assures that the entire crew is safe and uninjured and that the ship remains stable and under operational control.

Sonangol Trading and Shipping has activated planned safety procedures and is conducting additional technical assessments in coordination with local maritime authorities and competent technical entities.

The document states that Sonangol Trading and Shipping continues to monitor the situation and maintain appropriate monitoring and coordination mechanisms.
