the continent and beyond, such as the situations in Sudan, Libya, and the Sahel region.
The conference also highlighted the operationalization of the African Peace and Security Architecture, with the African Standby Force at its core. This development is complemented by regional efforts, including an upcoming ECOWAS meeting aimed at operationalizing a counter-terrorism force.
Musah additionally noted recent international developments, such as the United Nations Security Council’s agreement to provide predictable funding for African-led peace operations, which could significantly bolster the continent’s security mechanisms.
The commissioner stressed the interconnectedness of security and development, advocating for stable regions as a prerequisite for sustainable development and the integration of Africa’s youth into these development projects.
