ADDIS ABABA — African defense ministers are set to meet in Addis Ababa for a three-day conference starting tomorrow, focusing on enhancing continental security and military cooperation. Organized by Ethiopia, the first African Defense Ministers Conference aims to address pressing security challenges and promote peace under the theme “Africa, in strong unity, for universal security and peace.”
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Minister of Defense Engineer Aisha Mohammed stated that the conference seeks to foster collective problem-solving and strategic discussions among African nations. Key topics include strengthening military partnerships, combating terrorism, and addressing both global and regional security threats. The minister highlighted Ethiopia’s advancements in the defense sector and the importance of sharing knowledge with other leading nations.
The conference will also cover strategies for achieving self-sufficiency in military resources and weapons. Discussions will extend to enhancing roles in global peacekeeping efforts and improving responses to disasters. Aisha Mohammed noted that the event will facilitate an exchange of military and technological insights across the continent.
