Luanda: The new ambassadors of Zambia and Namibia reaffirmed their commitment to deepening historical and strategic ties with Angola this Monday, particularly in strengthening economic, cultural, and human relations. The statements were made to the press shortly after the ceremony to present their Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic, Joo Louren§o.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Zambia’s ambassador, Elias Munshya, highlighted the fraternal and historic nature of relations between the two countries, advocating for intensified cooperation in strategic sectors, particularly the Lobito Corridor in Benguela province, considered essential for regional development. “Zambia is here as a partner. We share the same desire for development, to create opportunities for our people, to add value to our resources, and to ensure prosperity for southern Africa. We bring friendship, partnership, and unity,” he added.
In turn, Namibian Ambassador Leonard Lipumbu expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his government and for the welcome given by the Angolan authorities, emphasizing that one of his main priorities will be to consolidate the historic relations that have united the two countries since the liberation struggle. “I want to deeply thank President Joo Louren§o for welcoming me and believing in this mission. Angola and Namibia are countries linked by a history of solidarity and common struggle. Today, we want to continue this brotherhood, strengthening our relations in all areas,” the diplomat declared. Leonard Lipumbu also praised the work of his predecessor and emphasized that Angola and Namibia are currently committed to intensifying economic cooperation, with a particular focus on infrastructure, health, education, and mineral resources.
