Ouagadougou: Africa World Airlines (AWA) launched its Ouagadougou-Accra route on Tuesday in the Burkinabe capital, with three weekly flights planned between the two capitals. “I have a great passion for the development and integration of Africa. My expectations are that this company will play an important role in this integration. I hope that with it, we can strengthen the ties between these two countries,” said AWA founder, King Togbe Afede XIV of Asogli State. According to him, the arrival of this company is a concrete way of strengthening cooperation between Ouagadougou and Accra. He also announced future energy collaboration between Burkina Faso and Ghana.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ghana’s Minister of Roads, Kwame Governs Agbodza, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. ‘I am here as a representative of the Ghanaian government. This is a testament to the relationship that exists between Burkina Faso and Ghana. It also proves that Africa has entrepreneurs who are fighting for the continent’s development.’ He emphasized the potential synergy that could be created through collaboration between entrepreneurs from both countries.

Karim Tapsoba, the representative of the Director General of Burkina Faso’s Civil Aviation, remarked on the significance of the new route. “The inauguration of this new route is the result of a process of affirming the will of the highest authorities of our respective states. This inauguration marks an important step in the development of air transport in our sub-region. I remain convinced that Africa World Airlines will contribute to the revitalization of our air network and the economic and tourism strengthening of both states,” he said.

Africa World Airlines currently holds 55% of Ghana’s domestic market. The first direct flights between Ouagadougou and Accra are scheduled to be non-stop. Departures are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., with arrivals at 11:30 a.m., including a 20-minute margin for possible technical adjustments.
