Ouagadougou: The National Organizing Committee (NOC) for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025 provided an update on preparations for Burkina Faso's participation in the event. The briefing took place during a press conference at the August 4 Stadium in Ouagadougou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the press conference focused on two main aspects: the conditions of Burkina Faso's participation and the mechanisms for accessing the nine stadiums and Fan zones, including the Fan ID system. Evariste Dabire, president of the NOC and chief of staff to the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, emphasized the importance of managing resources responsibly during this significant time for the country.
Dabire detailed that Burkina Faso's participation is structured around a balanced budget exceeding 3 billion FCFA, with 67% allocated to bonuses and fees for qualification to the final. The official delegation will include 28 players, technical and medical staff, 29 officials, and at least 75 supporters. Additionally, 500 tickets per match will be made available for the official delegation, supporters, and Moroccan citizens, contingent on having a Fan ID.
Boureima Balima, Secretary General of the Burkinabe Football Federation and organizing committee member, discussed the process for obtaining a Fan ID, essential for accessing stadiums and certain zones during the competition.
The National Organizing Committee for the COCAN was formally established on September 1, 2025, with Roland Somda as the general supervisor. Since its inception, the committee has convened four meetings and conducted a fact-finding mission to Morocco.
The Africa Cup of Nations is set to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco. Burkina Faso is grouped with Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan in Group E.
