Kabul: The Afghan interim government's Ministry of Public Health has announced the commencement of a four-day vaccination campaign intended to protect 7.3 million children under the age of five from poliovirus. The initiative, set to run from Monday to Thursday, aims to provide anti-polio drops to children in 19 of the country's 34 provinces, according to Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, a spokesperson for the ministry.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Amarkhil has called upon tribal elders, religious scholars, and parents to actively participate and fully cooperate with polio workers to ensure the campaign is implemented effectively. The Ministry of Public Health is focused on combating infectious diseases by implementing preventive measures. Through the polio vaccination campaign, the ministry aims to prevent the spread of polio in Afghanistan, stated Amarkhil.
