Ouagadougou: Ouagadougou will soon become a broadcasting hub for the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) with the establishment of a new radio station that promises to operate around the clock. The main station will be based in Ouagadougou, with relay stations strategically located in Bamako and Niamey to ensure comprehensive coverage across the AES member countries.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the radio station will offer a diverse program schedule that reflects the cultural and linguistic diversity of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. The announcement was made by the Minister of Communication, Gilbert Ou©draogo, at the conclusion of a validation workshop dedicated to the project.
Minister Ou©draogo emphasized the radio's role in addressing significant issues such as access to information, combating terrorism, and countering misinformation. Additionally, the station aims to promote local cultures and raise awareness on developmental matters, serving as a platform for open dialogue and community engagement.
The workshop, which included Burkinabe, Malian, and Nigerian experts, also highlighted the importance of technical alignment among the three countries before the station's official launch. Agreements between state structures and technical upgrades are crucial steps outlined for the successful deployment of AES Radio.
Director of Communications at the Nigerien Ministry of Communication, Chaoulani Safiatou Djingarey, mentioned that the focus was on deployment strategies, agreement signings, and technical preparations, ensuring a seamless launch of the AES radio station.
