AES Countries Plan Joint Information Channel to Strengthen Cooperation

BAMAKO — The countries of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) are preparing to launch a joint information channel to improve information dissemination across their member states, aiming to enhance cooperation and foster unity among the populations of the Sahel region, according to Colonel Assimi Goïta, current president of the confederation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Malian president, who spoke on September 15, 2024, during the first anniversary of the AES, the new channel will promote equitable access to information in all three member states. The project is designed to reduce disparities in media coverage and ensure better coordination of messaging. In addition to news, the channel will feature cultural, educational, and sports programming to promote the region’s cultural diversity and encourage community exchanges. The initiative will be supported by investments in communication infrastructure to ensure accessibility in both urban and rural areas.
