Aerobics Session Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou: Aerobics session to raise awareness about breast cancer The Burkinabe Association of Midwives and Midwives (ABSF/M), in collaboration with the Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of Burkina (SOGOB), initiated an aerobics session on Saturday to raise awareness against breast cancer.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event featured a mix of walking and aerobics, with participants emphasizing the significance of prevention and early detection of female cancer during "Pink October."

Blanche Zougrana, President of ABSF/M, highlighted that the sporting activity represents the dedication of midwives, obstetricians, and gynecologists to supporting women. She stated, "It's not just a sport; it's an expression of our determination to fight women's cancer."

The organizers stressed that early detection is crucial in minimizing cancer-related complications. Ms. Zougrana encouraged women to perform breast self-exams monthly. Dr. Dieudonne Ouedraogo, SOGOB's Secretary General, commented that the event strengthens solidarity and serves as a call to action for women in Burkina Faso to prioritize breast cancer screening.

Professor Nayi Zongo, coordinator of the National Cancer Control Program, highlighted the role of sport in reducing cancer risk and urged women to maintain regular physical activity. The Burkinabe Association of Midwives and Midwives, established in 1973, operates nationwide to ensure women receive quality care from qualified professionals.
