Luanda: The Action for Rural Development and Environment (ADRA) Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is allocating 220,000 euros to implement the fourth phase of its Public Policies Monitoring Program in the Social Scope. This initiative emphasizes monitoring sectors such as health, environment, and agriculture, among others, as confirmed by Eurico Domingos, an assistant at ADRA, during a public presentation in Luanda.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Domingos highlighted the necessity for community leaders to participate actively in the program by overseeing ongoing actions within their jurisdictions. These leaders are tasked with identifying any non-compliance issues in the implementation processes and raising alerts when necessary.
In his address, Domingos emphasized the creation of monitoring groups that will supervise the program's execution within communities. He noted that this initiative is vital for enhancing transparency and promoting citizen participation in public life, marking a significant step towards democratization in the country.
Simione Chiculo, the Director-General of ADRA, underscored the importance of continuous citizen oversight of government actions, which are of national interest. He remarked that citizens should actively monitor the various social programs being developed by the government, as they are the primary stakeholders in these initiatives.
The current phase represents the fourth stage of ADRA's Monitoring Program for Public Policies in the Social Sphere, which commenced in 2028. Over the first three stages, ADRA invested more than 700,000 euros, with funding primarily sourced from international organizations' donations.
