Addis Ababa Witnesses Robust Stakeholder Consultations on Nation Building

Addis Ababa – In a significant gathering in Addis Ababa, representatives from across Ethiopia’s political and social spectrum convened to discuss pivotal nation-building initiatives. Participants included members from political parties, governmental branches, civic associations, and influential opinion leaders, all converging for a landmark agenda-setting and consultative chapter aimed at shaping the future of the nation.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the consultation brought together 121 delegates representing diverse societal sectors to actively deliberate on setting city and national agendas. This consultative process was highlighted by the participants’ commitment to democracy, respect, and inclusive dialogue, underscoring a collective effort to address the country’s long-standing economic, political, and social issues.

Prominent attendees included Retired Colonel Admasu Berhanu, who noted the historical significance of these dialogues in resolving national differences. Teshale Sebro emphasized the consultations’ potential to resolve decades-old conflicts and lay a foundation for enduring peace and sustainable development. Meanwhile, Mohamed Abrar of the Gurage Unity and Justice Party reiterated the importance of dialogue in overcoming Ethiopia’s challenges.

Zainba Shakur, representing the Addis Ababa Government Council, described the forum as free and transparent, an essential feature for successful outcomes. The consultations were further reinforced by Commissioner Zige Asfaw of the Ethiopian National Dialogue, who affirmed the importance of continued stakeholder engagement in shaping Ethiopia’s trajectory.

The consultations follow a call from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, urging stakeholders to leverage this opportunity to collaboratively forge solutions for the nation’s challenges, marking a pivotal moment in Ethiopia’s journey towards unity and peace.
