Addis Ababa to Host Groundbreaking East Africa Infrastructure and Water Expo in June 2025

Addis Ababa – The capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, is set to host the first-ever East Africa Infrastructure and Water Expo in June 2025, an event aimed at propelling infrastructure development across the region.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the organizer of the event, this expo is designed to foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation within the crucial sector of infrastructure development. The announcement follows the success of the second edition of Big 5 Construct Ethiopia 2024, which saw participation from 9,600 attendees and 175 exhibitors from 22 countries. The CPD-certified Big 5 Talks at the event were attended by 3,350 industry professionals, contributing to their annual training and development.

The upcoming East Africa Infrastructure and Water Expo is anticipated to further stimulate growth in the infrastructure sector, which is already experiencing rapid evolution due to increased urbanization in the region. The World Bank forecasts a GDP growth of 3.4% for East Africa in 2024, with an expected increase to 4.2% in 2025. Infrastructure investment, currently valued at $395 billion, is seen as a significant driver of these economic advances.

Scheduled to run from 26th to 28th June 2025 at the Millennium Hall, the expo will be co-located with Big 5 Construct Ethiopia, organized by dmg events. This co-location is expected to unify the entire infrastructure value chain, offering a comprehensive platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and build partnerships that are crucial for the region’s infrastructure development.

Mehtap Grsoy, Portfolio Director – Construction at dmg events, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We are excited to introduce the event, co-located with Big 5 Construct Ethiopia, as it is dedicated to providing a dynamic platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and build partnerships that shape the region’s infrastructure development.”

The event aims to present a range of products and services across five key sectors: urban connectivity, water and waste management, smart cities (digital infrastructure), communications, and planning and construction of power infrastructure. By doing so, it supports East Africa’s economic recovery strategy, focusing on infrastructure as a backbone for economic growth, social advancement, and environmental sustainability.
