Addis Ababa: Mayor Adanech Abiebie of Addis Ababa has been awarded the 2024 Seoul Smart City Leadership Award during a ceremony held in South Korea. The award, which recognized leadership in urban innovation, was granted to Adanech among mayors from 115 cities across 72 countries, reflecting the city's progress in integrating technology into public services.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, she expressed her deep gratitude for the recognition, stating that the award represents the collective efforts of the city’s administration and its residents. She emphasized that the progress Addis Ababa has made is driven by the active participation of its people, reaffirming her commitment to further development. "The achievement belongs to all of us," Adanech said, acknowledging the role of the community in the city's accomplishments.
