Addis Ababa Corridor Development Projects Set Benchmark for African Urban Modernization: PM Abiy

Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized that the Addis Ababa corridor development projects, which are fully self-funded, will continue to strengthen, serving as a definitive example for the modernization of African cities.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Prime Minister Abiy, in an exclusive interview with EBC, elaborated on the positive impacts of the Addis Ababa corridor development projects. He highlighted the significant progress these initiatives have made in modernizing the city’s infrastructure and urban landscape.

The prime minister reflected on the previous urban challenges faced by Addis Ababa, including narrow roads, absence of bike lanes, traffic congestion, and a lack of clean and green spaces. He noted that the government initiated the corridor development projects to address these issues and modernize the city.

The projects, implemented on a larger scale, aim to benefit all residents by providing economic, health, and aesthetic advantages. They have improved the appearance and functionality of neglected buildings, eased traffic flow, and transformed hidden settlements into lively entertainment hubs.

Furthermore, the projects have tackled infrastructural challenges related to electricity, water, telecommunications, and the sewerage system. The prime minister pointed out that these initiatives have successfully modernized the city, yielding tangible results that residents can take pride in. He cited Kazanchis as an example of a neighborhood that has seen significant improvement.
