ADB Approves $22.58 Million Financing to Enhance Project Readiness in Kyrgyzstan.

Bishkek: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced the approval of a financing package totaling 22.58 million U.S. dollars aimed at improving project readiness and ensuring more efficient and sustainable project implementation in Kyrgyzstan.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the financing comprises a concessional loan of 13.36 million dollars combined with a grant of 9.22 million dollars from the Asian Development Fund. This funding is designated for project preparatory support, specifically in the sectors of public transport, energy, urban development, and health, among others, which are financed by ADB.

The initial activity funded by this package will focus on preparing a project to expand the electric bus fleet and develop dedicated busways in the capital city, Bishkek. The financing is also earmarked for projects that contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation. This includes initiatives that aim to enhance building energy efficiency, advance public transport systems, promote renewable
energy generation, and improve water supply systems.
