Poni: The Regional Directorate of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, in partnership with the NGO Plan Burkina, is organizing a capacity-building workshop for civil society actors and decentralized technical services of the State of the Southwest region from June 3 to 4 on themes relating to child protection. The workshop was opened on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Gaoua by the Regional Director of Humanitarian Action, Ollo KAM.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aims to harmonize participants’ knowledge around themes such as child protection, the fight against gender-based violence, and social inclusion. The discussions will focus particularly on violence against children, trafficking, and the exploitation of children on gold mining sites. The situation of internally displaced children, who represent more than 60% of displaced people, will also be explored.
In his remarks, Mr. KAM highlighted the significance of addressing the condition of children who are wards of the State, unac
companied children, separated children, or those found during operations to secure the territory. The workshop aims to foster greater synergy between civil society organizations and state structures, enhance the visibility of cases of violence, and ensure faster reporting for effective treatment.
