Accused behind bars for drugs worth R370 000 in Mossel Bay


An accused found in possession of drugs with an estimated street value of R370 000 remain behind bars following his first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ court on Wednesday, 20 September 2023.



On Tuesday, 19 September 2023 Garden Route District Crime Intelligence and Kwanonqaba police members, armed with a search and seizure warrant, operationalized intelligence on a consignment of drugs that was delivered at an identified address in Notinana Street, Asla Park in Mossel Bay. On arrival at the address, the members ensued with a search of the premises which led to the discovery of 7236 Mandrax Tablets, 2.8 kilogram of dagga and 379 litres of liquor. The police confiscated the find and arrested a 51 year old woman. She is facing charges relating to dealing in drugs as well as dealing in liquor.



The accused was remanded in custody. The case was postponed to 9 October 2023 for a formal bail application.



Western Cape police management applauded the members for their swift response which ultimately led to the confiscation of the find. These confiscations would go a long way in the resolve to rid communities of illicit drugs.
