ABEEC Launches Week to Promote Internal Tourism in Burkina Faso

OUAGADOUGOU — The Burkinabè Association for the Emergence of the Cultural Economy (ABEEC) has announced a special week dedicated to promoting tourism within Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, scheduled from August 16 to 22, 2024. This initiative, titled 'A Week of Tourist Discovery (SDT 2024),' aims to showcase and enhance the local tourist attractions of these major cities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, president of ABEEC, the event will feature a series of activities including group gatherings in Ouagadougou, participation in the traditional false departure ceremony of His Majesty the Moogho Naaba, and visits to key tourist sites along the Ouaga-Bobo axis, as well as within the cities themselves. Kawolobou emphasized that the initiative also seeks to foster a spirit of excellence among students in schools and universities. To support this goal, ABEEC has called for the sponsorship of internally displaced students and those in challenging circumstances who have demonstrated good academic performance, enabling them to participate and broaden their cultural and educational horizons.
