A’ATHENA’S Foundation Holds Health Screening and Aid Distribution for IDPs in Ouahigouya

OUAHIGOYA — The A'ATHENA'S Foundation conducted a comprehensive health screening campaign on Saturday for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Northern region, offering tests for hepatitis B, diabetes, blood pressure, and HIV. In addition to health services, the foundation distributed five tonnes of rice to the beneficiaries.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Secretary General of the A'ATHENA'S Foundation, the initiative was spurred by a keen observation of the acute social and economic challenges facing Burkina Faso. The campaign, held on June 29, 2024, also included vaccinations for hepatitis as part of the foundation's efforts to address urgent health needs among the displaced populations.

Yassia Fortune Younga, the coordinator of the day’s activities, highlighted the foundation's partnership with a generous donor who provided the five tonnes of rice. This contribution significantly bolstered the support extended to those attending the screening session. Younga expressed gratitude towards the A'ATHENA'S Foundation for its ongoing commitment to aiding vulnerable communities, particularly in education and health sectors.

Abdoul Rachid Ouédraogo reiterated the foundation's dedication to continue supporting the needy, contingent upon the availability of resources, underscoring a sustained commitment to assist IDPs in overcoming their current hardships.
