A Middle-Aged Man Burnt To Death Over Suspected Motorcycle Theft

Gambogi: An unidentified middle-aged man was today torched to death by an angry mob on suspicion of attempting to steal a motorcycle from a rider at Gambogi area, Vihiga County while masquerading as a Police Officer.

According to Kenya News Agency, Assistant Chief of Gamalenga sub-location, Kennedy Kinala, confirmed the incident, stating that the man had boarded the motorcycle pretending to be a Police Officer before demanding Sh5000 from the operator. The motorcycle operator managed to escape and raised an alarm, drawing the attention of local residents.

Kinala explained that the residents responded by beating the man and subsequently burning him to death. He emphasized the importance of vigilance among motorcycle operators, advising them to be cautious about whom they carry and to ensure that their motorcycles have identification numbers.

He also suggested that motorcycle operators should inform their colleagues about their passengers and destinations whenever they leave their base station.
