77 Bags of Blood Collected During Voluntary Donation Drive in Pissila

Sandbondtenga: The municipality of Pissila organized a voluntary blood donation operation on Tuesday as part of the first phase of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), which allowed 77 bags of blood to be collected.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Pissila, Tambi Zouma, was the first to donate blood, encouraging the community to show solidarity towards the sick and those in need by engaging in voluntary and regular blood donation.

Following Zouma’s lead, donors turned out in large numbers, resulting in outcomes considered highly satisfactory. “77 bags of blood were collected for a forecast of 50 bags, representing an execution rate of 154%,” stated Karim Soulgan©, head of mission at the Kaya blood product collection and distribution depot (DPD/PS), at the conclusion of the drive.

Soulgan© invited the donors to remain committed to voluntary blood donation to help the DPD/PS meet the high demand for blood products in the region. The blood collection campaign, under the theme of patriotic commitment and civic participation, is part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation, aimed at reducing deaths related to insufficient blood products in healthcare facilities.

PDS Tambi Zouma noted that this blood collection is one of the main activities of the two-week JEPPC, which commenced on March 26, 2026. He also announced other forthcoming civic initiatives, including sanitation operations, road maintenance, and activities to promote local food.
