74,177 Candidates Take KCPE Exams in Kakamega With Enhanced Security Measures

Kakamega County, Kenya—As the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams begin, Kakamega County is witnessing a significant number of candidates participating in the annual assessment.

According to Kenya News Agency, a total of 74,177 candidates are currently writing the KCPE exams in the region. Of these, 37,616 are boys and 36,561 are girls. Nyang’au assured that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure the exams proceed without any interruptions.

In addition to the KCPE candidates, the county has registered 65,397 Grade 6 candidates—31,685 girls and 33,712 boys—for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA). For the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), the county has a total of 52,209 candidates, comprising 29,570 boys and 22,639 girls.

Nyang’au confirmed that all schools in the county have completed the syllabus as required, and educators are confident in the readiness of their candidates for the exams. “Security has been beefed up to ensure the exams are conducted without any interruption; we have center managers, supervisors, and invigilators ready to monitor the exercise,” said Nyang’au.

The county director also disclosed that Kakamega has 15 exam containers for the safekeeping of examination materials. Specifically, Navakholo and Kakamega East Sub-Counties have two exam containers each, while the other sub-counties in the region have one each.
