7 Israeli Hostages Freed from Gaza Under Ceasefire with Hamas

Tel aviv: The Israeli military announced on Monday morning that seven hostages have been released and are now in Israeli custody following over two years of captivity in the Gaza Strip. This marks the first group of hostages released under the recently established ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the hostages were escorted by Israeli military forces and Shin Bet agents back into Israeli territory. Upon their return, they will undergo medical assessments before reuniting with their families. The military issued a statement regarding the successful return of the hostages.

In Tel Aviv, crowds gathered at Hostages Square erupted into cheers and applause as the names of the seven freed individuals were displayed on large screens. Many attendees waved Israeli flags adorned with yellow ribbons, a symbol of solidarity with the hostages, while chanting, "Bring all of them home -- now!"

Israel's health authorities received confirmation from the Red Cross that all seven hostages are in reasonable medical condition. The remaining 13 hostages are anticipated to be released later on Monday.

Red Cross vehicles also arrived at the Ofer Prison near Ramallah, where approximately 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners are expected to be released later on Monday as part of the swap agreement.

U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Israel on Monday morning. During his brief visit, he plans to address the Israeli parliament and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the families of the hostages. Following his visit to Israel, Trump is expected to depart for an international summit in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheik. The summit, starting on Monday, aims to consolidate the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and advance a broader Middle East process.
