6th COMESA Women Trade Fair and Business Conference Begins in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa: The sixth edition of the COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Trade Fair and Business Conference commenced today in Addis Ababa. More than 200 women entrepreneurs from the 21 member nations of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) are taking part in this event, which will run until May 9, 2025.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, senior government officials from Ethiopia, including Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives Tagesse Chafo, Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe, and African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Ambassador Selma Malika Haddadi, along with other COMESA officials, were present at the inauguration of the trade fair. The event is being held under the theme “A Thriving COMESA which advances Gender Responsive Regional Integration for Unlocking Green Investments, Value Chains, Tourism and Mining in the AfCFTA.”

This significant event, organized in collaboration with COMESA and Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade and Regional I
ntegration, marks a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to empower women in business across the 21 COMESA member states. It follows closely after COMESA concluded its 2nd Institutions Awareness Forum in Addis Ababa. The two-day forum was held under the theme, “Accelerating Regional Integration through the Development of Regional Value Chains in Climate Resilient Agriculture, Mining, and Tourism.”
