67 Women in Tchriba Trained in Saponification and K´k´d´nda Dyeing

Mouhoun: 67 women from the commune of Tchriba benefited from training in saponification and k´k´d´nda dyeing, led by Philbert Zida, a history and geography teacher at the Nazi Boni regional vocational high school in Ddougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the idea for this action dates back to a meeting that took place two years earlier in Ddougou with internally displaced women from Zida's village. He explained that the women had come seeking food at the provincial directorate of Social Action, a scene that deeply affected him and motivated his efforts to economically empower vulnerable women.

A first training session, organized at Zida's own expense, attracted nearly 300 participants. Encouraged by the response, Zida extended his initiative to a dozen villages in the region, expanding the content of the training modules. Inspired by national efforts to promote traditional fabrics as school outfits, he included k´k´d´nda dyeing, aiming to enable mothers to make school uniforms for their children, thereby enhancing their autonomy and reducing family expenses.

For the Tchriba session, the town hall provided premises free of charge. The secretary general of the commune, Guiguima Sanou, praised the initiative for strengthening women's economic empowerment through income-generating skills. Participants expressed their satisfaction, with student Graldine Bado seeing the training as an opportunity to learn a trade that could meet her needs. Minata Sangar voiced her gratitude, noting this was her first free training and that she could now contribute more to family expenses.

Encouraged by the participation in Tchriba, Zida urged the women to apply their newfound skills as a means of empowerment. He announced that the next stage of his initiative is planned in the commune of Safan.
