Zambo: The president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zambo, Tass©r© Badini, led a significant tree-planting event at the Djikologo cave site, marking the plantation of 570 trees as part of the "Patriotic Hour to Green Faso" initiative.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event saw a massive turnout from the inhabitants of Djikologo village, who actively participated in the reforestation of the Djikologo Cave tourist site. The effort, supported by local water and forestry services, included the planting of various tree species such as baobab, nilotica, and shea.
Tass©r© Badini kicked off the event by planting the first shea tree, underscoring the importance of community participation in environmental conservation. He commended the involvement of development associations, women's groups, and citizen monitoring bodies. He also acknowledged the support from the Zambo forest services, the cantonment in Djikologo, and the Dissin gendarmerie for their contributions.
Mr. Badini emphasized that this initiative is a patriotic act aimed at enhancing the greenery of the tourist site, thereby boosting its appeal. The cantonment commander and the heads of the Zambo departmental service and Djikologo forest post highlighted the necessity of this reforestation project to improve the area's vegetation cover. They stressed the importance of maintaining and protecting the newly planted trees.
Representatives from the citizen watch and the chief of Djikologo expressed their satisfaction with the operation and urged continuous community engagement to support the President of Faso's development initiatives.
Following the planting, participants were given a guided tour of the Djikologo Cave, allowing them to explore the site's natural and cultural richness.
